Did you know Woodbury has its own Community Garden?
In 2021, a group of Woodbury residents got together with the city to start the planning for our garden. It’s located by Andy’s Bark Park, off Dale Road. We launched in 2022 with 16 plots and support from a SHIP grant from Washington County. In 2023, we expanded to 48 plots, reservable through the city. The community garden is the intersection of all three focus areas of Woodbury Thrives – Healthy Lifestyles, Mental Wellbeing, and Social Connectedness.
Grow your own vegetables and flowers while cultivating camaraderie with friends and neighbors in our community garden! Studies have shown that gardening can improve mental wellbeing by reducing stress, improving cognitive abilities, providing a source of physical activity, creating a sense of pride and accomplishment, and providing opportunities for skills development.

South Washington County Telecommunications joined with Woodbury Thrives and the City of Woodbury to make a video describing more about the garden. Check us out here!
Our Community Garden is a true community endeavor
The garden leadership committee includes people from the Woodbury Thrives, City of Woodbury, Washington County Master Gardeners, Washington County Water Stewards, and gardeners themselves
Community Connection
The garden brings together 48 different households from various backgrounds and parts of Woodbury. Working in the garden has fostered connections and friendships from people who would have ordinarily never met. Current gardeners frequently mention how peaceful and pleasant it is to be in nature.
Master Gardener Clinics
One perk of being part of the garden is that the Washington County Master Gardeners come to run information sessions. We will be hosting periodic “Ask a Master Gardener” clinics at the garden this summer!

Volunteer!
Do you have a passion for gardening and want to share that with your community? Contact us at garden@woodburythrives.org
Students can volunteer too!
We have had many students helping us at the garden – from building benches to planting a pollinator garden. We have many areas we are exploring for the future – these could make great Eagle Scout or Gold Award projects. Many thanks to Audrey Siefken, Woodbury Girl Scout Troop 57638, who, with her friends Elise and Lily, helped remove buckthorn, landscaped around the garden, laid down occultation tarps, and created QR codes for the garden!
We were featured in October 2023 in the St. Paul Pioneer Press! Check us – and one of our gardeners – out in the link below!
